Welcome letter

Thank you for your interest in the role of Chief Delivery Officer. This is an opportunity that has arisen due to the retirement of a member of my Executive Team. I am delighted to be able to provide you with more information about the post and the Trust. Our key ambition is to provide consistently high quality mental health and learning disability services for our local communities. We believe we will achieve this by creating a culture where our strategy, structures, people and processes all work together towards the same end: creating trust, promoting empowerment and fostering responsibility.

As a Trust, we place a high premium on putting our values at the heart of everything we do. This is because we want to be an organisation where there is genuine inclusion for all, a sense of psychological safety and trust and an environment where our staff feel able to bring their authentic selves to work on behalf of patients, families and carers. Through our focus on kindness and compassion, we aspire to create a work environment where people feel a sense of belonging, safe, supported and encouraged to develop. This, in turn, creates the conditions where learning, fresh thinking and bold, decisive action can flourish.

Embracing innovation has enabled us to become one of the most research active NHS mental health and learning disability trusts in the country. We are a teaching and university hospital trust and host the applied research collaborative on behalf of all NHS organisations across Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Our approach has placed us at the forefront of the drive to harness the power and potential of digital technology to transform health and care services. It has also placed us in an influential position at the centre of exciting new partnerships which are shaping major changes to our local health and care systems.

As we enter 2021, we have the opportunity both to move beyond the Covid-19 pandemic and to learn from it. I am excited by what we can achieve at Sussex Partnership by continuing to work together with each other, our health and care partners and most importantly with the people who use our services and who work with us. If you are excited by this possibility, want to join our team and feel that you have the skills and experience to undertake this crucial role, we very much hope to hear from you.

Sam Allen
